The most simplistic difference between career counselling and career coaching is that career counselling is exploratory and career coaching is outcome focused.

In career counselling, for example, we'll conduct self evaluation activities such as auditing your values, interests, skills and attributes. Career coaching builds on that understanding to move you forward to achieve your goals.

During a career counselling session we'll discuss and identify your hopes, dreams and goals which provide a foundation for your career plan. If you're looking to change careers or identify a first career we can conduct a vocational assessment to help identify new occupational areas. We also use a number of other tools and methods to help you explore your values, career interests, abilities and preferred work environments.

Your personal circumstances are taken into account when developing a career action plan. We take a whole-life approach factoring in all facets of your life, not just your career. After considering the options available, we'll work together as you make decisions about your future resulting in short, medium and long term goals.

Career coaching builds on career counselling by focusing on your goals and how to achieve them. You'll learn practical strategies for moving toward your goals and ways to overcome any barriers or obstacles. The career coaching relationship is a highly dynamic one where your career coach challenges you to gain and maintain momentum. You'll be encouraged to set specific tasks, identify resources and measure your progress. Evaluating your progress is vital to ensuring you're on track and achieving your goals.

How do I know which I need, career counselling or career coaching?

When you contact us we'll have a brief discussion about your needs and let you know what we recommend. Given the nature of career counselling and coaching, there can be an overlap so it's likely you'll be exposed to both when you work with us.

How many sessions will I need and how much will it cost? The number of sessions required varies from person to person. There is no obligation for you to commit to a set number of sessions although many people feel they benefit greatly from some level of ongoing support and guidance.

How much will it cost?

We charge a flat hourly rate for all our services and don't require you to sign up for a series of sessions or a set programme. We understand everyone is different and their needs differ just as equally. You have complete control over how much you spend.

The cost of your career counselling or coaching will be discussed with you and confirmed before your first appointment. If you are currently experiencing extreme financial hardship please let us know and we will do whatever we can to assist you.

What if I live in another country?

We provide career counselling and coaching services to clients all over the world. We use web-based technologies such as Skype, instant messaging and email, enabling us to work with you no matter where you are in the world. Of course, you will need to have access to a computer with internet access.
